Junior forward Jon Pierce netted a pair of free throws with four seconds remaining and then blocked the final shot at the buzzer to lead the University of Mary Washington men to a 57-56 win over Salisbury University last night at Goolrick Gymnasium.
Senior guard Mike Lee became just the third player in UMW history to surpass 1,500 career points, and senior guard Justin Baker became the 14th player in school history to surpass 1,000 career points.
The Eagles (13-7, 7-5) will visit Gallaudet University tomorrow at 8 p.m. at 8 pm in another CAC game.
With 1:03 remaining and the Eagles trailing, 56-53, Justin Baker stole the ball and scored a layup to cut the deficit to one. A turnover by the Sea Gulls with 48 seconds remaining gave UMW the chance to regain the lead, and Pierce's two free throws were the deciding points.

The 14th-ranked University of Mary Washington women saw four players reach double figures and held Salisbury University to just 18 first half points in a 72-51 win over the Sea Gulls last night.
Junior All-America center Liz Hickey scored a team-high 13 points and added five rebounds and three blocks to pace UMW (19-2, 9-1).
The Eagles will visit Gallaudet University tomorrow night at 6 p.m. in another CAC contest.
