Albert E. Snyder
Albert E. Snyder, 88, of Front Royal died at Warren Memorial Hospital Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007, after a short illness. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, March 3, at 2 p.m. at The Southerlands, by the Rev. Dr. C. Thomas Rhyne. Mr. Snyder was born May 4, 1918, in Elkhart, Ind., the son of Bert and Mary Snyder. He was a graduate of Jefferson Senior High School in Roanoke and Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering. He served four years in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a registered professional engineer and a life member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. He was a plant engineer at the FMC plant in Marcus Hook, Pa., and in Fredericksburg. He retired from Avtex Fibers after 36 years. He was a Paul Harris Fellow with the Front Royal Rotary Club, and a member of the Unity Masonic Lodge and the American Legion. He was married to the late Edrie "Tootie" Snyder. Surviving are two daughters, Dottie Moore of Providence Forge and Sande Adams of Springfield, Mo.; a brother, Larry of Greenville, N.C.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal.
