Crabtree, Parker lead JM to first win

The James Monroe High School baseball team picked up its first win of the season yesterday in a 9-3 nondistrict home victory over Washington & Lee.

Josh Crabtree led the Yellow Jackets (1-7) at the plate, with two triples and three RBIs.

John Parker added a home run and three RBIs.

The Eagles (3-4) were paced by Dylan Jackson's two RBIs.

James Monroe will return to Battlefield District action today at 5 when it hosts Spotsylvania.

Colonial beach 29, quantico 1

The Drifters provided more than enough offensive support for Kevin Swope, who picked up the win in yesterday's Delaney Athletic Conference game, scored three runs and drove in three more.

Anthony Irvine paced Colonial Beach (10-3 overall, 3-0 DAC) with three hits, four runs and four RBIs. Josh Clark added two hits and three RBIs, and Will Trivett had three hits and scored two runs.

Lindsay Buccola scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Black-Hawks rallied for a Commonwealth District victory.

Buccola scored both runs for Brooke Point (6-3 overall, 2-2 district), which also got a one-hitter and 11 strikeouts from pitcher Ariel Keidel.

Hannah Sisson threw two no-hitters and struck out 15 as the Eagles swept a nondistrict doubleheader yesterday.

Amanda Jenkins went 3-for-3 with three singles, Brittnee Aclan had two hits and three RBIs, and Jessica Pitts went 2-for-3 with a double and a single for W&L in the first game.

Pitts was 3-for-3 with three singles and Lydia Smith went 1-for-3 with a double in the second game.
