There's unhealthy mold in the city courthouse

I was called for jury duty this month in the city of Fredericksburg. I appeared as instructed, and was unable to serve because of the environmental conditions in the courtroom.

I was exposed to toxic mold at my workplace in Fredericksburg several years ago. As a result, I react fairly quickly to mold with coughing and wheezing, resulting in bronchitis.

There is black mold observable on the ceiling of the courtroom. It is moved throughout the room by the HVAC system.

I wish to thank Judge Scott for the concern and respect he gives jurors in his courtroom.

I respectfully request that the City Council immediately undertake a study of the current court conditions in our city and move to make changes while planning for the future. Our citizens deserve a courthouse that serves justice in conditions that are safe for all to participate.
