Myers will make education a priority

A critical election is approaching in the 28th District senatorial race. The person we send to Richmond must be a strong, proven leader who can fight for our needs and values effectively.

As a Stafford School Board member, I understand the importance of quality education for our children. I know that smaller class sizes, competitive salaries, and meaningful incentives for potential educators will go a long way to ensuring that our students receive the best our educational system has to offer.

Jon Myers will be education's strongest advocate. He has also been vocal about his position in keeping children safe--the only candidate to do so publicly so far--and in protecting traditional family values.

Jon also understands the needs of local governments and school boards, and will work with them in Richmond. He has received the full support and endorsements of Stafford's Republican-endorsed elected officials. I will be voting for him on May 19, and encourage others to do the same. Jon Myers is the only candidate you can trust to make the education and safety of our children a priority in Richmond.

Robert Belman, Stafford

The writer is chairman of the Stafford County School Board.
