The upcoming special election on May 19 may be one of the most crucial elections in 30 years, as that is how long our past senator remained in office.
Our county has pressing needs that should have been addressed long ago, such as spending that's doubled in the past 10 years, and the largest tax increase in the history of the commonwealth, which occurred on our past senator's watch.
Liberals in the legislative bodies continue to ask overtaxed citizens for more tax money for transportation; they fail to solve transportation problems with the money they take in. Instead, they have wasted billions of VDOT funds on "transportation toys" that report the obvious--that traffic is backed up--rather than building 1,000 miles of road that the money could have paid for.
This is why I will vote on May 19 for John Van Hoy.
Through careful examination of candidate records, John is the only candidate qualified to address these problems. As a small businessman, John has carefully balanced his company budgets and will be a good steward of our tax dollars.
John will not vote to raise taxes. Instead, he will look for waste, especially in VDOT expenditures--because he is a geologist, working on road and bridge foundations, and knows where waste occurs.
John is the only candidate who fully shares conservative values. He is the only 100 percent pro-family, pro-life conservative.
