Stafford County School Board member Dana Reinboldt is seeking a second term on the board.
Reinboldt, 50, has represented the county's Widewater District since 2004. Gene D. Smith has announced plans to run for the post.
Three of the board's seven seats are up for election this fall.
In a written statement, Reinboldt said her goals include reducing class sizes, restoring adequate funding for the division and increasing the use of technology in schools.
"I feel there's more I can contribute to the quality of education for our kids," she said in a telephone interview.
During her tenure, she said, the School Board has launched after-school activity buses for high-schoolers, added a dress code and created more alternative-education classrooms, among other things.
She also requested a policy that prohibits "inappropriate relationships" between students and school employees, regardless of the student's age.
Reinboldt, who has lived in Stafford for 20 years, said she's never missed a meeting since taking office. She said she thinks she's improved communication with parents by attending many parent-teacher organization meetings and other functions.
"I'm grateful for the opportunity to serve our children, and I hope I'll have the opportunity to continue," she said.
