OCCASIONALLY we get letters The Fredericksburg Community Health Center will serve those who can't afford medical care or those whose doctors won't accept their insurance plans--providing one more piece in what is becoming a mosaic of quality health care facilities in the area. Low-income residents are already using the Lloyd F. Moss Free Clinic, which opened its new facility in May. Mary Washington Hospital provides millions of dollars in charity care annually, and the two more hospitals that are on the way will no doubt follow in that pattern. Care is also available through the Mary Washington Hospital Auxiliary Mobile Health Clinic and the Fredericksburg Christian Health Center. Medicare and Medicaid patients are having increasing difficulties finding doctors who will take their insurance. The new health center will attempt to fill that gap, as well as serve other patients. Kudos to MediCorp, the Virginia Department of Health, the Bragg Hill Family Life Center, and the other organizations that have been working for years to bring this new clinic to the area.
