Aquarius, R.I.P.?
Class warfare by Stafford County 'liberals'
Date published: 7/19/2007
IF Stafford County Democrats make the Board of Supervisors' 4-3 approval Tuesday of a Traditional Neighborhood Development ordinance a campaign issue, they'll probably discover that TND is far from TNT in explosiveness.
In any case, members of the county's "liberal party" at least should dissociate themselves from one off-key criticism of the proposal by some in their ranks: that TND would unwisely allow developers to build modest homes that are weak tax generators. How elitist is that reasoning.
Let's hope we hear no such talk from Stafford alumni of idealistic Woodstock Nation, whose indelible image is of stringy-haired girls and concave-chested boys all intertwined like the denizens of a bait can. Heaven forbid that some of those undiscriminating Aquarians of yore have grown too persnickety in their autumn years to share the county with representatives of the lower orders.
But, then again, we quit believing in the existence of liberals awhile back--when neighborhood after neighborhood in assertedly progressive and solidly Democratic Fredericksburg bellowed at a displaced homeless shelter in search of a new site: "Not in our neighborhood!"

I wasn't at Woodstock in the 60's. But like many Democrats
I did serve in Vietnam. Your Bush, Cheney, Rove, Perle,
Kristol, ... were no-shows. Many of us marched, spoke,
attended meetings, and gave money for the homeless
shelter. I don't recall seeing you or your staff in
attendance. By the way, Fredericksburg only went for
Webb in 2006 by approximately 1000 votes out of 5000
cast. Being a good citizen is much more than serving in the
military. We can choose justice over personal attack.
Dear Editor - Don't embarass yourself with uninformed research

Get off you uninformed soap box . Please research better before you write such an article...majority of people who spoke against TND were REPUBLICANS and Independents.

the ad hominem attack. Instead of addressing the merits of the issue, the editorial attacks the persons making the argument (string haired girls and concave chested boys?) As a consequence, I now know less about this issue than I did before. And then the editorial staff wonders why we are turning to blogs for commentary and news. This kind of editorializing should be rezoned for the trailer park!
Oh horse manure!!

Geex, no wonder this newspaper is stuck back in the sixties. I was nine in the "summer of love" and unabashedly a liberal right now. I wonder what I missed out on, not getting constantly stoned and living on welfare. Sorry, but Jesus said "love your neighbor as you love yourself." Guess the FLS wants to keep poor people out of the country so taxes can be gererated. I was in DC last night, and saw a homeless person in an electirc wheelchair. Let's put them all in DC so we don't have to loot at them.
Right on point
