Fredericksburg police have identified a 23-year-old Louisa County man as the "clown" who robbed the CVS pharmacy late May 20.

Rickey Kiser is charged with robbery, city police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe said. He had not been apprehended as of last night.

According to police, a man wearing face paint like a clown and fake hair got away with $6,000 worth of prescription drugs in the heist.

He entered the store at 591 Jefferson Davis Highway near Mary Washington Hospital about 10:30 p.m., approached a pharmacy clerk and handed her a note demanding OxyContin from the safe.

The robber had his hand under a shirt and claimed he had a gun, but no weapon was displayed, according to a police report.

The robber got OxyContin and Methadone. He also got a small amount of cash after making another employee give him money from a register while the initial victim was getting the drugs.

Bledsoe would not say how police tied Kiser to the crime, other than to say information from the public was instrumental in the investigation.

Anyone who has information regarding Kiser's whereabouts is asked to call city police at 372-1055 or 372-1053.

He frequents the Prince William County area, police said, and drives a green Isuzu Rodeo with five-day transfer tags.
