Cheer Dynasty starts the new competition season with a bit of fun at Half Moon Beach. |
Post 290 is sponsoring the Commonwealth Fastpitch Softball League, a competitive program for Stafford County area high school softball teams.
The league is sanctioned as an 18-U program through the Amateur Softball Association. The season runs from August through October.
Players must be in high school. However, eighth-graders will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Each team will play a 10-game schedule followed by a single-elimination tournament. Opening day is scheduled for Sept. 8.
The league's goal is to allow high school teams to participate in an organized fall league providing high school coaching staffs the opportunity to evaluate prospective athletes prior to the spring season.
For registration information contact your high school softball coach or e-mail cfsbl@comcast .net.

Cheer dynasty celebrates seasonThe new season kicked off with Dynasty Day at Half Moon Beach in Strasburg.
More than 400 athletes from Cheer Dynasty's three locations participated in field-day-type events, while the athletes' families had a day to relax.
The athletes were divided up equally on teams. This gave the athletes a chance to meet, socialize and compete against each other.
The undefeated winning field-day team members were Graciela Slyer, Megan Barnes, Samantha Trusdale, Alex Morales, Brice Pinson, Yasmine Tejada, Elizabeth Bramble, Caleigh All, Taylor Guthrie, Hahanna Wright and Gabby Cooper.
The men coaches defeated the dads in a volleyball tournament while the moms destroyed the women coaches in their volleyball games.
In addition to the field day and volleyball challenges, the coaches kept the athletes on their toes with water guns, a live disc jockey and plenty of stunting in the water.
