Police Brief Date published: 10/8/2007 By Ellen Biltz A King George County man died at the scene yesterday after his motorcycle crashed into a tree. Hans Erwin Jaeger, 47, was driving his 2003 Harley Davidson on State Route 218, also called Caledon Road, around 1 p.m., said Sgt. Tom Cunningham of state police. He said Jaeger veered off the right side of the road and struck a tree. The accident occurred half a mile west of Route 642, also known as Eagle's Nest Lane. Trooper J.C. Smith investigated the crash. The cause is yet to be determined. Cunningham said alcohol is not thought to be a factor in the crash. --Ellen Biltz
There will be a benefit for Hans at Bates Bar And Grill Friday 12 October starting around 8:00 PM. Cover charges will go to help pay for his final arrangements.
I ride on 218 all the time. It is not a particularly demanding road, but as in all motorcycling endeavors one must be aware of the road. I was on 218 that very morning. Such a tragedy on a nice sunny day...
Hans had ridden hundreds of thousand of miles in all conditions. He was a great person and will be missed.
Route 218 has probably killed more King George and other local residents than the Iraq war. Why can't the government do something about THAT!!!!!!
