JUDAS GOSPEL SCHOLAR TO SPEAK One of the translators of the Gospel of Judas will speak at the University of Mary Washington on Oct. 25.

Marvin Meyer, a professor and the U.S. member of the translation team for the ancient Coptic manuscript, which details a twist in the traditional tale of Judas Iscariot, will speak at the university's Great Hall at 6 p.m.

Meyer's lecture is titled "The Gospel of Judas: New Light on the Early Church." It will be free and open to the public.

Garland Adkins, Jr. has resigned as Caroline County's director of finance.

County Administrator Percy Ashcraft said yesterday that Adkins turned in his resignation Oct. 4, effective immediately.

The announcement is listed on an employee Web site for the county. The site said advertisements to fill the position will be listed in coming weeks.
