King George nears broadband deal
K.G. wireless plan moving forward, deal to close developer deal under way

A wireless Internet agreement between Virginia Broadband L.L.C. and King George County is a step closer to completion.
On Tuesday, County Administrator Bryan David announced the county's intent to sign a contract. Virginia Broadband would use county infrastructure to provide wireless Internet service to resident subscribers.
In an e-mail statement yesterday, Supervisor Steve Wolfe said the contract would be awarded in the near future, but did not specify a date.
In other business, the Board of Supervisors:
Decided to pursue an agreement with Worman Development to acquire land and a pump station for the Chatham Village subdivision. The deal would solidify county control over water and sewer services, which it already maintains.
Worman Development previously said it would stop services to subdivision residents unless the county paid for the infrastructure. Robert Byrne, an attorney for Worman Development, said Friday that the company was willing to deed the property and infrastructure to the county at no charge.
Established an Assign-A-Highway program through the George Washington Regional Commission in conjunction with the Rappahannock Regional Jail. Probation officers will assign probationers to pick up litter along highways, streets and roads as part of their community service requirements.
Laurel Hammig, coordinator for the commission's Litter Control Program, said probationers will start sometime in the next two months.
