Joseph C. Muzyka

Joseph Charles Muzyka Sr. died peacefully Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, at his home in Raleigh, N.C., after a lengthy illness.

A native of Bronx, N.Y., Joseph had a distinguished career in the U.S. Army, serving in World War II and the Korean War. After 26 years of military service, he was employed by the Virginia Health Department for a number of years.

Joseph is survived by his wife, Martha; sons, Joseph Jr., Richard and Michael; daughter Maryjane; stepdaughters, Victoria Wise and Nancy Marland; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sisters, Kathleen Baczewski and Adele Targonski.

Joe and Martha were previous residents of Fredericksburg for 18 years and established close friendships and acquaintances with many folks in the area. Joe often attended Sunday Mass at St. Mary Catholic Church in Fredericksburg.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, at Floris United Methodist Church in Herndon. Burial will follow in Arlington National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the Disabled American Veterans at dav.org.
