Wright scores 23 to lead Cavaliers in upset win

HONOLULU--Monica Wright scored 23 points to lead Virginia to an 86-83 upset victory over No. 21 Texas yesterday in the first round of the Rainbow Wahine Classic.

Teammate Aisha Mohammed had 22 points and 10 rebounds for the Cavaliers (4-2), who advanced to Saturday's semifinals against the winner of the Minnesota-Kentucky game. The Longhorns will play the loser.

No. 2 connecticut 86, Old dominion 43

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, U.S. Virgin Islands--Tina Charles had 15 points and seven rebounds to lead No. 2 Connecticut.

No. 8 Georgia 78, Prairie View A&M 44

Orange high school graduate Sarah-Jo Lawrence, who scored 13 points, made four free throws in the final 25.6 seconds for the injury-plagued Colonials (4-1), who led 41-32 with 13:04 left.

GAINESVILLE, Fla.--Tanae Davis-Cain scored 27 points, Shante Williams added 11 points and six assists and Florida State beat Florida.
