The annoying phone calls keep on coming
The annoying phone calls keep on coming

I thought I’d been annoyed enough prior to the local elections, but they weren’t done with me yet.

On the evening of Election Day, I got a call from a congressional hopeful soliciting my vote. Today, I get a call from the Salvation Army for a donation. Is there no rest for the weary?

I abhor using the phone to start with and only pay for an online phone for my safety. It shouldn’t give the right to every Tom, Dick, Jane, or Harry who’s running for something or trying to pick my pocket to keep disturbing my peace.

Those who’ve dropped their landline phones for cell phones had the right idea. They don’t get bothered with these calls.

I’m registered with the “do not call” service, but it doesn’t stop these schmoes from getting me up every 15 minutes to answer a recording. They don’t even have the guts to make personal calls so I’d have the pleasure of hanging up on them.

Well, I’ve come to a decision. Anyone who disturbs me at home will not get my vote, and anyone who desires a donation will not get one.

I’m sure there are many people, not just myself, who feel as I do. I urge them to let it be known that they will not acquiesce to these phone invasions.

I read the paper, get my news from TV stations, and keep up with what’s going on in the world. I see and hear enough about all these candidates to make an intelligent decision on whom to vote for without being bombarded.

I also note that there are few candidates fit to be elected to the office they so covet. So please, stop this nonsense. If this keeps up, I’ll have no one to vote for.
