$400,000 study could lead to interchange from Spotsylvania to I-95.
Date published: 11/19/2007 A new I-95 interchange in the Fredericksburg area could be on the horizon. The Fredericksburg Area Metropolitan Planning Organization unanimously selected Michael J. Baker Inc. to head the study. They will look at what traffic is like on I-95 and the Route 3 area out to Gordon Road. The proposed site or a future interchange would link Route 3 to the interstate south of the Rappahannock River. Part of the project could even contain the area's first toll road. Explosive growth in the Celebrate Virginia Development is causing congestion with more on the way. The idea is more than a decade in the making. The study will cost $400,000 and will be funded by a state grant, VDOT and the Celebrate Virginia Community Development Authority. Listen to Deirdre Blake's story
