After nuclear probe. Date published: 11/22/2007
VIENNA, Austria (AP) - Iran is expecting the U.N. Security Council to close the file on the country's nuclear activities after its investigation into past atomic programs wraps up. An Iranian diplomat says there would be no "legal and technological justification" for continued Security Council involvement after the probe. The comments are seen as an indirect challenge to the United States. Earlier this month, a U.S. envoy said Iran's file will not be closed as long as doubts remain about the nature of its nuclear activities. The U.S. maintains all options are on the table when it comes to stopping Iranian enrichment. Iran's top nuclear negotiator says any threat against his country would affect the stability of the entire Middle East. (Copyright 2007 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)
