A Culpeper man was arrested after allegedly assaulting the son of a female acquaintance and then pulling a gun on the young man. The incident occurred shortly after 5 p.m. on Wednesday at the girlfriend's house on West Edmonson Street. According to Lt. Chris Settle of the Culpeper town police, Leroy Johnson, 55, got into an argument with the boy and assaulted him. Johnson then went outside, got a handgun from his vehicle, returned to the house and threatened the boy, Settle said. Johnson was gone when police arrived at the victim's home but he was arrested later that night at his home on the Old Fredericksburg Road and charged with assault and battery and brandishing a firearm. A 9 mm pistol was confiscated during the arrest, Settle said. Johnson was released on $2,500 bond.
