FROM STAFF REPORTS King George built a big first-half lead and cruised to a 52-23 Battlefield District girls basketball win against visiting Spotsylvania last night to remain unbeaten in district play. The Foxes (11-2, 3-0) totaled 43 rebounds, seven each by Brooke Cobb and Stephanie Watts, and added 19 steals. King George visits Chancellor next Friday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL Riverbend 39, The teams combined for one field and two free throws in the second quarter, but Meredyth Frye's 22 points were enough to lead Riverbend to a Commonwealth District win last night. Frye finished 11-for-12 from the free throw line and added 14 rebounds and seven steals for the Bears (12-2, 8-0), who visit North Stafford next Friday.
