Date published: 2/8/2008

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) - About 20 soldiers with a Virginia Army National Guard medical unit headquartered in Charlottesville are conducting medical training this weekend.

The training includes ambulance ride-alongs on Saturday with the Charlottesville Albemarle Rescue Squad.

Besides the EMS ride-alongs, Charlie Company medics can take part in Emergency Department rotations at the University of Virginia Hospital.

According to the Virginia National Guard, Charlie Company provides medical care to all units in the 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team and units that serve in their area of operations. They also are trained to work with local health workers to provide medical care during critical incidents in Virginia.
