Get involved through volunteer work
Thanks for the great article titled "Companies embrace volunteer programs" [Feb. 7]. It highlighted how much businesses and their employees can give back to their community through volunteerism. Through the Volunteer Center at Rappahannock United Way, we have partnered for many years with businesses such as Rappahannock Electric Coop, Home Depot, MediCorp, Employees from these companies take time from their busy schedules to help complete vital projects and support nonprofit services throughout our community. The feedback we receive also validates the point that the businesses and volunteers also have so much to gain from their efforts as they learn new skills, connect with the community, and bond with their fellow workers.
