Sadly, history is repeating itself here

Just read the newspapers to learn how far this nation has deteriorated.

We lash out at little Cuba, but are afraid to lash out at China for their genocide in Tibet. We issue new passports to have better control, but we outsource the printing to Thailand, where the Chinese intelligence are involved with the company printing them.

It's kind of dumb; we really need to have that imprint on our passports saying "Made in China."

George Bush puts his kiss of death on Sen. McCain by endorsing him, but that is a good sign, as both backed the invasion of Iraq very strongly from start to now.

We sent a message to our "leaders" back in November 2006 by voting the Republicans out of office, saying it's time to get out of Iraq.

Now we have Sen. McCain as the Republican choice for president. Every four years, we have a three-ring circus from the candidates seeking the presidency. Everyone is a hero today, but we have not had one since George Patton.

We can never win the war in Iraq simply because the terrorists want us to stay and die for a worthless cause that was a lie in the first place.

History repeats itself; we are at the ending stages of the Roman Empire with no hope in sight. We are not second to none, we are second. Just ask the Chinese, who rank us at 52nd.

Selfish (posted by kashmir840 , Apr. 28, 2008 9:47 am)
And maybe that's all the difference, and that's okay...I don't mind money taken from my pocket to help humanity. I'm on this planet to serve and help. It's called compassion. Greed is a deadly sin, slimjim.

actually it is hard to live because people like you keep taking money out of my pocket.

Indicator of what denotes an empire/downfall (posted by phantom_twit , Apr. 25, 2008 2:46 pm)
If the the American Republic (Democracy that is/was) has shifted to an empire, it most likely can be seen from the "me" generation. History tell us that Roman Republic values were challenged when the individual placed himself over the welfare of the whole. I think that Americans have deeply fallen into this - my "pet pieve" is the SUV/big pick up - they know it sucks too much gas, pollutes too much, and will kill us others in an impact... but they come first. Heck with enviroment and oil dependence.

when we stoop to calling each other 5th graders because we don't agree. Don't lie, slimjim, and say that Mr. Brindock is entitled to his opinion, when you obviously don't think he is worthy. And steady decline since 2006? I would say 2000, but unfortunately, I think it started sooner than that. Republicans were in for 6, Dems only for 2. Why is it that the "conservative" side always seem so liberal is dishing out ignorant statements and beliefs? It must be hard to live with hate tightening up your heart.
