FROM STAFF REPORTS Senior attacker Caitlin Erickson scored three goals and added seven assists to pace the 14th-ranked University of Mary Washington women's lacrosse team to an 18-5 victory over Greensboro yesterday. Erickson surpasses the 100-point mark for the season, becoming just the third player in school history to surpass that milestone. The Eagles (9-5) will host Guilford today at 2 p.m. Baseball The Eagles split their doubleheader yesterday with Villa Julie, clinching at least the second seed in the Capital Athletic Conference tournament. The Eagles won the first game, 6-5, and dropped the nightcap, 8-5. In the opener, UMW fell behind 5-1, but responded with two runs in the sixth and three in the seventh for the one-run win. Will Wright went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI as the lone Eagle with multiple hits. In game two, the Mustangs scored three times in the first and three in the third and held on for the three run win. The Eagles' game today against Virginia Wesleyan has been postponed. UMW (19-7, 12-3) will host Salisbury on Wednesday at 3 p.m. men's lacrosse The Eagles dropped a 10-8 decision at York in CAC play. The Eagles fall to 5-6 overall and 2-4 in CAC play. Junior Charlie White led UMW with two goals and two assists while Dan Coats had two goals and one assist. men's tennis John James, Randy Loden and Kaz Murata paced the 11th-ranked Eagles to a 9-0 victory over Swarthmore yesterday.
The Eagles (15-5) will host Washington College on Tuesday at 4 p.m. track and field The men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Duke University Invitational this weekend. For the women, Mae Winchester set a school record in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 64.61 second. Senior Cristy Falcone qualified provisionally for the NCAA Championships in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at 10:59.79. The women's 4-by-400 relay ran a season-best time of 4:01.88. For the men, Matt Cash ran the 800 meters in 1:53.53 and the 1,500 meters in 4:02. The Eagles will be at the Lynchburg Invitational next Saturday. rowing The University of Mary Washington rowing teams competed at the Johns Hopkins Invitational in Baltimore yesterday. The men's varsity eight won its final with a time of 5:53.36. The women's varsity eight finished second in its grand final with a time of 6:47.04. The Eagles will compete next weekend at the Knecht Cup.
