Chargers gain Battlefield lead

Chancellor held off King George's late rally to take sole possession of first place in the Battlefield District softball standings with a 4-3 win yesterday.

Melanie Glassford pitched a complete game and was 2-for-4 for Chancellor (9-4, 4-1).

Katelyn Mehl went the distance for King George (5-9, 3-2) and was 2-for-3. Mackenzie Thomas had an RBI and a run scored for the Foxes.

Heather Jenkins' two-run double in the first inning was all the offense Orange (13-4, 6-2) needed to pick up a Jefferson District win.

Micalha Sacre struck out 13 en route to a two-hit complete game. Paige Pritchette was 3-for-3.

Hannah Sisson and Bailee Packett combined on a three-hit shutout as Washington & Lee (11-1, 4-1) won a Northern Neck District contest.

Sisson and Marky Pitts each went 1-for-3 with an RBI for the Eagles. Megan Wade had 10 strikeouts for the Trojans (11-6, 3-2).

Ashley Martin pitched a no-hitter and drove in four runs as Fredericksburg Christian School clinched the CAAC regular season title.

Martin had four hits and scored three runs. Brooke Young and Mae Maginnis each had three hits and three RBIs for the Eagles (11-3, 6-0).
