Border-crossing softies played it safe

Hey, great! Immigration activist Sue Frankel-Streit and her "walking companion" successfully crossed the U.S.-Mexico border into Arizona ["Activists walked in shoes of immigrants," May 3].

She replicated what illegal immigrants, drug and human traffickers, and possibly terrorists do to get into our country illegally.

I trust that she and her companion immediately reported to the Department of Homeland Security at the nearest border inspection station to declare themselves. To do otherwise would, of course, be a violation of federal law.

Some Mexican citizens risk injury and death regularly to illegally enter the United States in attempts to provide for themselves and their families, usually under cover of darkness.

According to the article, nighttime was too treacherous for our brave Virginians, who traveled by day. The "walking companion" even hurt his knee!

The last thing our U.S. border agencies need to attend to is a bunch of bleeding hearts wandering around on our borders.

While Ms. Frankel-Streit was vacationing in the desert of the Southwest, most of the rest of us were earning a living.

Finally, a step in the right direction. (posted by blowinsmoke , May 13, 2008 1:54 pm)
RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina's community colleges will no longer admit illegal immigrants, returning to more restrictive policy on the advice of the state Attorney General's Office. I can only hope that Virginia and other states hop on board.

The CONSTITUTION cannot be overridden by the Supreme Court...and according to the CONSTITUTION there is no such thing as an anchor baby they are illegal and need to go with their parents...Write your Congressman and get this injustice changed.

The law isn't only laws (posted by patrick4hp , May 12, 2008 12:40 am)
The law also can be Supreme Court rulings, one of which says you cannot deny education to children of Illegals. That is just a fact, just as the law is also true that county health departments must provide prenatal care to women and Medicare provides hospitals with funds so illegals can give birth. Plus, sorry, you can argue all you want with me, but anchor babies cannot be deported. Sorry Slar, but these are just the facts, and shows that the law helps illegals out.
