FUNNEL CLOUD SEEN IN CAROLINE
Several Caroline County residents called 911 about 4:40 p.m. yesterday to report seeing a tornado in the Dawn area.
Caroline sheriff's Sgt. R.L. Hixson said the tornado was seen on Courtney, Camp, Edgar and Herring Creek roads. Authorities found numerous trees down across roads and power lines. No injuries or major structural damage were reported.
The National Weather Service office in Wakefield said it will investigate reports of the tornado and other wind damage, but probably will not make any determinations until today.

Weather Service says microburst for Caroline but King William got a minor tornado, EF-0 with speeds approx. 80 mph. And no these tornadoes are nothing new to this area. I have lived here my entire life(27 years) and I can remember tornadoes around the area from when I was 5. Every summer a few would touch down, seems the weather service people are the only one's surprised these days.
Are we getting more tornados?

It seems like the last 5 years have brought us more tornados in the DelMarVa area than I can remember.
