Two of the state's traffic fatalities over the July 4th holiday period occurred along Interstate 95 in the Fredericksburg region.
A 70-year-old New Jersey man was killed in a single-car accident 1.5 miles north of the Aquia/Garrisonville exit in Stafford County Saturday, making him one of at least 10 people to die on Virginia roads between Thursday and Sunday.
Rosevelt Rogers of Jersey City, N.J., was driving a 2002 Lincoln Town Car north on I-95 about 1:20 p.m. when the car hit a bridge and rolled onto its roof, said Virginia State Police Sgt. T.J. Molnar.
Rogers was pronounced dead at the scene. Passengers in his car also received injuries, but Molnar did not have details on the individuals or the extent of their injuries.
Joseph Darnell Burroughs, 20, of Midlothian was killed about 11:20 a.m. Thursday when his car was hit by a tractor-trailer near the Thornburg exit of I-95.
Burroughs was attempting to enter I-95 north in his 1995 Honda Accord when a tractor-trailer apparently failed to stop as it exited the highway and struck his car on the driver's side, according to state police.

Well this should open peoples eyes about driving the speed and be more alert in driving but it does not help it seems. As a person who has had her drivers lisences suspended for 10 years and just now getting back makes me be more alert when driving now! Also driving the speed limit, and I do that by leaving 20 mins earlier to get somewhere so I don'tr have to rush or speed!
