Spoiler again? Ralph Nader should not run

Date published: 7/8/2008

Eventually, Ralph Nader will realize that his continued sorties into the presidential pool merely adversely affect his political agenda.

If the truth be told, Mr. Nader is not out of touch with reality on many policy issues; I feel similarly about many of the ills of American society.

However, while dissent is the American way--and Mr. Nader has every reason to be upset that neither the Republican nor the Democratic party has addressed the ailments of the system satisfactorily as a part of that system--sometimes one must realize that choosing the lesser of two evils can be the best road to change.

Mr. Nader is right. There are many ills, and only a fool assumes that America is perfect, or that American pseudo-democracy is perfect, or that America is even a real democracy.

But with the knowledge that he can never be the president-elect, Mr. Nader should focus his efforts in a less critical stage.

On the cusp of the election, Mr. Nader threatens to thwart change yet again, in spite of a Democratic nominee with the most potential for a "different kind of politics" since Robert Kennedy.

America cannot afford that. From climate change to foreign policy, America must improve if it is to survive as a "great" nation.

We cannot afford to go through another presidency marked by a preoccupation with terrorism over more pressing issues.

Vote for Barack Obama. We have only one Earth. And I promise that global warming is a greater threat to America than Iran's possessing a nuclear weapon, or even another major terrorist strike.

any time now there will be a zillion posts in here telling you how Bush orchestrated the whole 9/11 thing just so he could invade the Afghans and Iraqi's. but heck that happens in every comments page here doesn't it.

Umm, Jori? This little preoccupation with terrorism (posted by lifeisbeautiful , July 9, 2008 7:39 am)
you speak of? Well, there is a great big hole in the ground in lower Manhattan and unless you saw those big building that used to occupy that spot (yes, I have. Worked in Manhattan for years) you may have missed something, Oh, and if Iran had nukes, the Earth would get really hot. Global warming is not the enemy. Do some research on the issue - from both sides. Change? Listen to what Obama is saying & you may change your mind. Socialism is not the answer.

Sorry-slarrivee-that little outburst wasn't directed at you...yes,I've checked acorn (posted by kenderr , July 8, 2008 10:10 pm)
