Man charged with June hit-and-run Date published: 7/8/2008
BY ELLEN BILTZ
A Ruther Glen man was charged with attempted murder this weekend following an investigation of a hit-and-run that sent two men to the hospital last month. Sylvester Nathaniel Brown, 22, was charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of malicious wounding and felony hit-and-run following the June 20 incident, said Sgt. Tom Cunningham of the Virginia State Police. He said the charges were a result of an investigation that has been ongoing since the incident. Cunningham said Brown was arrested late Friday night at the Blue Beacon Truck Wash, in the same area as the Petro gas station in Caroline County where the two men were struck by a car. The men, Charles O'Brian Samuel, 24, and Landron G. Jackson, 20, both of Ruther Glen, were taken by ambulance to VCU Medical Center in Richmond shortly after the 12:30 a.m. incident. Cunningham said both men have been released from the hospital. He said police have yet to determine a motive for the hit-and-run, but the investigation is ongoing. Brown is being held at Pamunkey Regional Jail under no bond, Cunningham said. Ellen Biltz: 540/374-5424
