BY ERIN JOHNSON

Name/ grade/ school: Caldwell Locks/ rising junior/ Riverbend High School

Any strange phobias? If something bothers me, I get over it. Nothing really freaks me out to the point where I freeze.

Favorite literary genre? I enjoy historical fiction.

Best gift you've ever received? My brand-new hunting shotgun. I got it for Christmas. I'm not a redneck or anything, though or a city boy.

Any magazine subscriptions? Nah. I'd rather read a book.

Most thought-provoking music video you've ever seen? "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue" by Toby Keith.

Best time for music? Any era without rap.

Do you have any interesting or unusual hobbies or pastimes? I collect lead soldiers. My cousin got me hooked--but it's expensive!

Best Jim Carrey movie? "Bruce Almighty," hands down.

Would you agree that "what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger"? That's the silliest thing I've ever heard, because there's a lot of things that can cripple you. And I'd rather learn and not make mistakes.

Do you consider your life balanced between work and play? I generally work more than I play--but I enjoy working and have no complaints.

What would you do, if anything, if you knew you would succeed? Run for president.

Are there any qualities of yours you would like to pass down to your kids? I want to pass on that I do what's right, regardless of where my loyalties lie. And my love for Virginia.

Best way to get respect? There's no one way, but instead many ways, which include gentlemanliness, physical ability and kindness.

The best way to get revenge? Beat them with what they're good at.

Erin Johnson is a student at Germanna Community College.
