Irene Petty
Irene Petty, born to Ernest and Ethyl Roberts in Yorkshire, England, on Oct. 5, 1937, walked with our Lord on Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, in Dale City, with her family at her side. Irene came to the U.S. with her loving husband, Charles Edmund Petty, in April 1967. After moving to Virginia, Irene worked at Potomac Hospital helping others for 30 years. She retired to spend more time with her family. Irene was an avid bowler with the "Here For Fun" team of the Early Birds Bowling League in Dale City. Irene leaves a loving husband of 50 years, Charles Edmund Petty; a beloved sister, Shirley Wilkinson of Bradford, England; three children, Jacqueline Petty Spicer and her husband, Bobby, of Louisa, Steve Petty and his wife, Cheryl, of Stafford County, and Michelle Hunter of Dale City; and six grandchildren, Brittany Petty, Ashley Petty, Ricky Hunter, Crystal Spooner, Rashawn Hunter and Amber Petty. She also leaves her loving pets, Bisket and Cooper. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Irene's life on Saturday, Aug. 23, from 10 to 11 a.m., with a funeral following at 11 a.m. at Mountcastle Funeral Home 4143 Dale Blvd., Dale City, Va. 22193. Contributions may be made in Irene's name to the National Cancer Society, or to the charity of choice. Condolences may be sent to mountcastle.net.
