Outlook: The Red Devils are looking for a return to the playoffs under former New Kent coach Birchett, who has 35 varsity candidates. Noel and Diggs are athletic RBs who will fuel the offense.
NORTHUMBERLAND
Coach: John Poindexter
Last season: 1-9 overall, 0-5 district
Key returnees: Sr. QB/LB Dalton Keyser; Jr. RB/DB Kyle Hall; Sr. RB/DB Carolmane Diggs; Sr. WR/LB Joel Deihl; Jr. WR/QB Tavious Adams; Sr. C/DE Blaine Swann
Key newcomers: Sr. WR/DB Cody Payne; Jr. K Jessica Boarman
Outlook: The Indians were hit hard by graduation, especially up front, but Poindexter had a good turnout and expects speed and athleticism at the skill positions to be the team's strengths. Keyser, a 225-pound two-way starter, will direct the spread attack.
RAPPAHANNOCK
Coach: William West
Last season: 3-7 overall, 1-4 district
Key returnees: Sr. FB/DL Keman Roberston; Jr. RB Roger Jones; Sr. RB Shane Bell; Sr. RB/DB Tim Banks; Sr. RB/LB Hunter Harbin; So. QB Jacob Dunaway
Outlook: With 16 position starters back, the Raiders are hoping to improve on last year's 3-7 mark. New QB Dunaway is looking comfortable with West's wing-T set, while Harbin and Robertson are all-district performers on defense.
