How can Amtrak get better? It's cloutless
The welcome, but incomplete, improvements to the Fredericksburg Amtrak station will not affect the train service itself. Much more money, especially from Congress, is needed to improve the entire Amtrak rail system, not just a few local "cosmetic" remedies. The president and vice president were both oil magnates. Congressmen want to be re-elected, which takes lots of money. Who is going to supply it, and get their votes? The lobbies financed by the wealthy, powerful airlines, automobile, oil, and highway construction industries--not poor, puny little Amtrak. Frederick J. Spencer Caroline
We took the auto train to Florida recently and our experience was above board. A complementary wine tasting including hourderves along with a very nice surf and turf dinner with unlimited wine was a very nice way to travel. The service was impeccable as well as the facilities. If you only use the train for commuting, then I guess you get what you pay for, otherwise, I suggest you spend more time on the rails before moaning about the whole system.
