In GOP's 'storied' tradition, McCain is the latest big liar
Date published: 9/16/2008
John McCain told us that both he and his party failed (along with some Democrats) the American people over the last eight years.
Then he lied again about Barack Obama's tax policy versus his own going forward.
On Aug. 31, 2008, a Washington Post editorial titled "Continuing deception: Mr. McCain's ads on taxes are just plain false," provided data from the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center.
The editorial states, "Mr. Obama wants to raise taxes on the wealthiest Americans and cut them substantially for low- and middle-income taxpayers. He would cut taxes for more households, and by a larger amount, than Mr. McCain, who would give the greatest benefits to wealthy households and corporations."
We know that in energy independence, Band-Aids such as drilling offshore and cutting the gasoline tax are laughable.
It has been the Republicans primarily, and John McCain in particular, who have opposed a substantial investment in alternative sources of energy.
On the environment, John McCain likes to call himself a "Teddy Roosevelt Republican." But Teddy was a trust-buster and a consummate environmentalist.
McCain missed all 15 environmental votes scored by the League of Conservation Voters in 2007. Therefore, he received a zero in 2007. His lifetime score of 24 percent for a 25-year congressional period is a disgrace.
Obama has a three-year Senate average score of 86 percent from the League of Conservation Voters.
Here we see a 72-year-old man, lying on important issues, leading the party of George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Karl Rove, Gonzalez, Scooter Libby, and Tom Delay.
John McCain may have found his female attack-dog in the Alaskan tundra, but it's to no avail. For today, the music died.

I do blame the the lobbyists, Republican/Democrats in Congress and the President who were all are complicit in passing the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act in 1999 which de-regulated these banking crooks.. There are also a heck of a lot of real estate speculators who bought many of those now vacant houses. Any fool that gambles and loses gets little sympathy from me. Making me and you cover their losses is a crime.

This financial mess is the fault of those institutions that are now going under. They are the ones who threw all the loans and credit at people who really shouldn't have had it. Now they are paying for it. You know I wonder how much of this could have been prevented had they sat down with the folks they threw out of houses and found ways to keep them in them. Seems to me they would still have a mess but maybe not as big. At least they could be making something instead of nothing on empty houses.

I do not blame all of this mess on Bush and his boys. Most of it is caused by dumb bunnies who want a house in Fawn Lake when they should be living in Smoketree. F'Berg has one of the highest per capita debt service of any city in the country. Trying to keep up with the Jones. Fools, pitiful fools. With this being said, Bush did like to brag about home ownership and all the other things that the last 8 years and THE FAKE ECONOMY have produced. The USA is the DUMBEST fiscally minded nation on earth.
Mich-Are there any reliable sources that Obama wants to raise corporate taxes?

The only tax increases I know he's suggested: restoring the 36% and 39% income-tax rates for couples with taxable incomes above $200,300 and $357,700 and perhaps higher capital gain taxes and Social Security taxes for those with incomes exceeding $250,000. (If he pulls us out of Iraq, we could save another $125 billion a year.) I believe about 95% of us ARE below those income levels. (I sure am.) As far as the sub-prime mess, blame Repubs,Dems,Gramm,Clinton,Congress, greedy lenders and stupid borrowers.

No one has been a bigger jackass than myself in arguing on this blogs or whatever the heck you call them. My "anger" with many American people who I feel have closed their eyes and trusted an administration who is not concerned whatsoever with anyone but themselves is absolutely maddening. People will wake up in the next few weeks and you will see the Republican Party start to dwindle down a bit. There will still be hardcore people who believe in party of America and will continue to spew..
