John McCain told us that both he and his party failed (along with some Democrats) the American people over the last eight years.
Then he lied again about Barack Obama's tax policy versus his own going forward.
On Aug. 31, 2008, a Washington Post editorial titled "Continuing deception: Mr. McCain's ads on taxes are just plain false," provided data from the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center.
The editorial states, "Mr. Obama wants to raise taxes on the wealthiest Americans and cut them substantially for low- and middle-income taxpayers. He would cut taxes for more households, and by a larger amount, than Mr. McCain, who would give the greatest benefits to wealthy households and corporations."
We know that in energy independence, Band-Aids such as drilling offshore and cutting the gasoline tax are laughable.
It has been the Republicans primarily, and John McCain in particular, who have opposed a substantial investment in alternative sources of energy.
On the environment, John McCain likes to call himself a "Teddy Roosevelt Republican." But Teddy was a trust-buster and a consummate environmentalist.
McCain missed all 15 environmental votes scored by the League of Conservation Voters in 2007. Therefore, he received a zero in 2007. His lifetime score of 24 percent for a 25-year congressional period is a disgrace.
Obama has a three-year Senate average score of 86 percent from the League of Conservation Voters.
Here we see a 72-year-old man, lying on important issues, leading the party of George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Karl Rove, Gonzalez, Scooter Libby, and Tom Delay.
John McCain may have found his female attack-dog in the Alaskan tundra, but it's to no avail. For today, the music died.
