Homeless group to hold open house

Micah Ecumenical Ministries will open the doors of its new hospitality center to the public tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Individuals can tour the new facility at 1013 Princess Anne St., learn about Micah's new programs and get information on how to volunteer with the faith-based homelessness group.

Organizers ask anyone attending the open house to bring donations of travel-sized toiletries, deodorant, white crew or tube socks, men's or women's new underwear, white T-shirts, toilet paper, towels and washcloths, gently worn clothing, batteries and flashlights.For details, call 540/479-4116.

Area Food Bank to host hunger event

The Fredericksburg Area Food Bank will wind up Hunger Action Month with an awareness event today from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fill the Food Bank will feature tours of the operation and information on donating and volunteering.

The food bank will also accept donations at its location in the Lee Hill Industrial Park off Tidewater Trail in Spotsylvania County.

UMW to host autism information event

The University of Mary Washington College of Graduate and Professional Studies will hold a community information fair about autism Oct. 3 from 4 to 6 p.m. The fair will feature details on community resources for individuals with autism and their families and caretakers.
