Don't use me-me-me standard for VRE
Maybe only 2 percent of So why is it that some people demand that public transit be measured by a different standard than these public services? ["Stop trying to 'Fairfax' us, Spotsylvania!" Oct. 6]. I don't use VRE, but we all benefit as more cars are taken off the roads by transit. VRE is far from perfect, but it's By doing so, we would also stop shelling out millions when we buy gas that could have been used to improve Spotsylvania, but are now being effectively tossed down the drain. However, we won't get very far toward these goals Rupert Farley Spotsylvania
VRE funding is much bigger than a local issue. If our country is ever to be self sufficient it will have to rely on mass transit more. I'd much rathr have a tax that pays for improved infrastructure in this country, than to pay for gas that goes to subsidizing lazy middle eastern countries.
Why should poor people have to pay for you to go to your big $ jobs? Selfish bunch of gimme gimme gimme long distance commuters is what you are. Including you Rupert.
I agree, take the bus. Someone wants to benefit from this , but you can be sure it won't be the tax payers of SPOTSY. We don't need it, don't want it. Voters be aware of what these politicians (bad salesmen) are doing to us.
60 miles = double the pay of Fredericksburg!! Try it, you'll like it!!
I don't use many of the roads my taxes pay for, so maybe I shouldn't have to pay for them. I don't use HeadStart, maybe my taxses shouldn't pay for that either. Maybe Mr. Fetterolf, Ranko and Mich22408 should pay user fees to use their roads. There is a law of diminishing returns on widening roads, just because a road goes from 4 to 8 lanes does not mean it can handle twice the traffic. At some point alternatives are necessary. Only Mr. Wonderful has a (weak) point. Why live 60 miles from work?
