Watch out if Dems gain total control

Democrats are awaiting their Election Day sweep that will give their party a veto-proof and filibuster-proof majority in Congress and total, unstoppable power to enact whatever laws they want.

One of their first targets will be gun-owners. That's no surprise, since virtually every gun-control scheme that has been perpetrated against the citizens of this country at the local, state, and federal level has been hatched by Democrats.

Yet Democrats falsely claim to be the true champions of the Constitution and our rights thereunder.

Barack Obama, despite his lip service to the Second Amendment, is an arch-enemy of gun-owners. His record as an Illinois legislator and a U.S. senator is proof of that.

Obama is documented as voting for every piece of anti-gun legislation that has come before him. He is on record as stating that handguns should be outlawed, for banning the sale or transfer of all forms of semi-automatic firearms, for banning concealed carry, banning firearms kept in the home, banning most types of hunting rifle ammunition, and for favoring a federal law to nullify state laws that permit concealed carrying of handguns.

Obama can run from his record, but he can't hide from it. Listen not to what he says, but examine his actual record instead. That's where you will find the truth about Obama, and it's ugly.

I don't think some get it. The second amendment is not about the proverbial bad guy. It's a lots more. If only some people could get that & not have the "never in our lifetime" attitude. Vigilance, knowledge, understanding OUR constitution, and how our government works (or is supposed to work!) are the other things that will keep us safe and free. The bad guys aren't coming in to take weapons with weapons. Their weapons are words and ideas. Stupid PC crap is killing this nation.

I’m certainly thankful that our founders and the Americans who fought with them, did not have your attitude. I want my children and the following generations, to have all the freedoms and liberties we have. Indeed, I want to restore those rights that have been diminished and preserve those we have now. That is why we must “guard the civil liberties with jealous attention.”

Let me re-iterate. They will not be taking away our guns in our lifetime. (posted by kspecial , Oct. 16, 2008 4:44 pm)    0 likes
Certainly in the Old Dominion they'll have to pry them from our cold, dead hands. (Well, they might if you commit a felony... even then, laws aren't stopping criminals and the mentally unbalanced from getting guns.) So unless, you're worried about way, way out in the future generations, just relax my brother. It's happy hour.

Paranoid? Some. (posted by AtackDuck , Oct. 16, 2008 4:04 pm)    0 likes
I am not just worried about confiscation in VA. I’m worried about confiscation in America. After the confiscation, comes the negation of other rights: self-defense, privacy, property, the list goes on. Look at Britain where they have banned arms of all types. You may not even walk with a stick, because you MIGHT hit someone with it. I’m surprised they don’t tape their mouths closed to prevent offending someone. That is where the leading Democrats want to take us: totally dependent on the government.

Attackduck-I admit I'm ignorant of all the gun laws. There must be thousands between all the States. (posted by kspecial , Oct. 16, 2008 3:26 pm)    0 likes
I have a legal Glock 23, a shotgun, a bunch of kitchen knives and a bunch of golf clubs. That's all I want or need for self defense. (Of course running away is usually my first option. Hiding is second. Then there's negotiation and begging... violence is a last resort of the incompetent.) You say yourself, "There is no registration of firearms in VA. So why should I worry about it?", yet, you're worried about future confiscations (in VA) ... which won't happen in our lifetimes. It sounds a bit paranoid.
