Palin visit set for noon Monday

Date published: 10/24/2008

BY EMILY BATTLE

Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin's campaign rally in Fredericksburg will begin at noon Monday, the McCain-Palin campaign announced yesterday.

The rally is planned for Hurkamp Park, which is bounded by Prince Edward, William and George streets in downtown Fredericksburg.

City officials, Virginia State Police and Secret Service officials were working yesterday to determine logistics for the event, which will be open to the public.

City and Secret Service officials had scheduled a meeting for this morning to discuss details.

No information was available yesterday on which streets would close for the event, how long they would be blocked off or where attendees should park.

Public access to the event will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, the campaign said. Tickets are available at virginia .JohnMcCain.com, or at McCain campaign offices throughout the area.

The Fredericksburg area McCain campaign office is located at 150 Riverside Drive, Suite 213, off U.S. 17 in Stafford County.

Monday's stop in Fredericksburg is part of a three-city tour of Virginia.

Palin will begin the day with a 9 a.m. rally in Leesburg. After Fredericksburg, she will travel to Roanoke for a 5:30 p.m. rally.
