Vandals spray-paint Culpeper patrol car--while it's parked in police station lot Date published: 12/24/2008
BY DONNIE JOHNSTON
You have to be pretty brazen when you spray paint a marked police car--at police headquarters. But that's what vandals did in Culpeper Monday night. In fact, they spray-painted three police cruisers and a newspaper printing plant a block away from the police station. Two cars were vandalized at officers' homes, but the third was spray-painted at the town police station on Cameron Street. One vehicle had paint sprayed on its mirror, fenders, windows and trunk; another had paint on its hood; and the third had graffiti on its trunk, according to a police news release. The vandals also ventured over to Spencer Street, where they left graffiti on the front wall of the Culpeper Star-Exponent building. The vandalism occurred sometime between 10 p.m. Monday and 7 a.m. yesterday. "We think all these incidents are connected," said Detective Chris Settle. The town's Public Works Department was able to remove the paint from the police cars. Anyone with information is asked to call Settle at 540/727-3444, extension 344 or Crime Solvers at 540/727-0300. by your responses. Nothing like raising a little heck and nobody got hurt just like back in the day. I guess you folks never did a single thing wrong as a kid, never got in trouble with your parents or anything, right? You guys were perfect right? Spare me the better than thou and stop acting like nanny's. Graffiti is harmless, they didn't break any windows or pop any tires. Lemme know when something more serious happens. Probably was gang related but Culpeper says they don't have gangs or a gang problem.
you know if they can get away with spray painting a police car, maybe they will try mugging a police officer next.
So, you think these members of the local brain trust were just out "havin' themselves some fun" do ya? Wait, were you one of the women checking on the "homeless" while getting teens drunk at Park and Shop? If so, I can now see where you're coming from. Talk to me when they vandalize your crap, move on to breaking and entering, and then violence. Don't worry, I'll be right here saying those young'ins was just havin' themselves a good ole' time just like back in the day!" Jackanape.
come on wideopenspace. These kids having a "little fun" not only shows that they have little to no respect for private property ( most likey little to no repect for other people) but they almost are now responsible for hundreds of dollars of tax payers money to have those cars repainted and a building cleaned. The operative word here is "responsibiltiy". These people who did these acts of stupidity are irresponsible and undisciplined thugs. They are a boil on the butt of society.
Their probation office gets torched, a guy steals a government vehicle and leads police on a chase only to get away and now this?
