Dorothy M. Rose

Dorothy Marders Rose, 82, of King George County died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, at Mary Washington Hospital.

A native of Index, Mrs. Rose was a retired division head secretary at the Naval Surface Warfare Center at Dahlgren. An active member of Shiloh Baptist Church, she was a former clerk as well as a member of the Bettie McGinnis Sunday school class and the Women's Missionary Union, and also a former member of the King George Farm Bureau Women's Association.

The widow of Ernest E. Rose, she is survived by one daughter, Donna G. Loan and her husband, John, of Covington; granddaughter Crystal St. Clair-Canaii and her husband, Mario, of Hampton; two grandsons, Adam Loan and his wife, Courtney, of Covington, and Robert Rhinehart and his wife, Corina, of Albuquerque, N.M.; six great-grandchildren; and one special nephew, Rob Southern of New York City. She was predeceased by one daughter, Barbara Elaine Rose.

Family will visit with relatives and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, King George.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at Shiloh Baptist Church, with the Rev. Todd Kube, the Rev. Richard Headley and the Rev. Charles Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
