"FATAL FEBRUARY"
Its heroine, attorney Mary Magruder Katz, takes on the role of investigator as she defends a client charged with murdering her husband.
Mary's life-changing February begins with something as simple as getting her car washed. As an attorney, she might seem to have an advantage when her car is rear-ended by another car-wash customer. But Mary is distracted by the attractive and charismatic driver, Carlos Martin.
This is just the beginning of the unusual events that catapult Mary's somewhat predictable life into a whirlwind of danger. In short order, Mary's love life gets spicier, she gains two new clients, loses her job, and becomes a stalking victim.
Author Levenson, a Miami circuit judge, keeps the plot moving and the reader engaged. Some might even argue the characters and events of "Fatal February" stand up as enjoyable fiction of a similar style to Janet Evano-vich.
Diane Makovsky is a freelance reviewer in Spotsylvania County.
