Members of Cub Scout Pack 63 were honored at their annual Blue and Gold Banquet recently. The event also included a cake baking contest and a slide show.

PACK 63

Cub Scout Pack 63 of Kate Waller Barrett Elementary School held their annual Blue and Gold Banquet recently, with the United States Navy Ceremonial Guard opening the event.

The event included a Lad and Dad Cake Bake contest, with medals awarded to every Scout and a slide show featuring Scouts on vacations with their families.

Barrett Principal Kim Austin and Marine Corps Maj. Thomas Osterhoudt helped hand out awards.

The Blue and Gold Banquet is one of the highlights of the year. It is a family affair that brings the pack together in a way that regular pack meetings do not. This year's theme was American ABC's.

PACK 1410

Corbin Harmon, Bryan Frasher, Samuel Herrick and Connor Theriot earned their Arrow of Light Awards. This is the highest award a Cub Scout can earn.

Pack 1410 Pinewood Derby winners were: first place, Hunter Coutts; second place, Michael Tarasca; third place, Mikeal Lockard.

The Spirit of the Eagle award went to Mercedes and Larry Skamarycz in memory of their son, Larry, a Webelos I Scout.

Troops 3546 and 3407

Brownie Troop 3546 and Daisy Troop 3407 celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday by reading Dr. Seuss books at Target on State Route 610 in North Stafford.

Schools are collecting Box Tops for Education to fund some items and Rocky Run Elementary is doing Coke Rewards to purchase "Dance Revolution" for the physical education department.

Girl Scout Troop 753 is collecting the box tops and unused Coke Rewards codes from people who aren't using them for their own schools. These items can be dropped off at the Scouts' ink recycling boxes at the Stafford County landfill and the Belman Road recycling center, as well as cell phone recycling boxes at Atlantx Sprint in the Stafford Market Place and the two AT&T stores on State Route 610. Troop leaders will ensure they are distributed to area schools.
