FACT? OR JUNK SCIENCE? ARE WE WARMING? OR COOLING?
Global Warming: Fact or Junk Science?
Date published: 4/5/2009

VIRGINIA BEACH

--In its April 28, 1975, issue, 34 years ago, Newsweek magazine published an article titled "The Cooling World." The article touted the "fact" that global cooling was the next great disaster to be visited upon the world.

Data had been collected that indicated a great cooling trend, including shorter growing seasons and smaller crop harvests. This led some scientists to believe the Earth was entering a new ice age, the effects of which would change--or, in the worst case, destroy--human habitation.

Fast-forward to 2005: We are told global warming is the new threat to mankind. Further, we are told that human activity is the cause of this calamity; if we don't make extreme changes--immediately--to basic human activities, the world as we know it will end.

Puzzled? Me, too.

Consider this quote from the aforementioned Newsweek article. "To scientists seemingly disparate incidents represent advance signs of fundamental changes in the world's weather. The central fact is that after three-quarters of a century of extraordinarily mild conditions, the Earth's climate seems to be cooling down."

Then comes renowned scientist Al Gore promoting just the opposite viewpoint. The Earth is warming and catastrophe is right around the corner.

I have followed scientists on both sides of the issue, and I am convinced that no one is absolutely sure what is going on climate-wise. Activity on the sun's surface has more to do with our planet's climate than does any other variable. And, by the way, data are in that indicate that not only has the global climate not warmed over the past eight years, it has entered another slight cooling period.

TAKING ACTION?

Back to the 1975 article. It stated: "Climatologists are pessimistic that political leaders will take any positive action to compensate for climate change, or even to allay its effects. They concede that some of the more spectacular solutions proposed, such as melting the Arctic ice cap by covering it with black soot or diverting Arctic rivers, might create problems far greater than they solve."

Where's the beef? (posted by Rmoen , Apr. 6, 2009 8:10 pm)    0 likes
For the past 15 years I was convinced global warming was caused by CO2. Now, I'm not so sure. It's looking more and more to be a natural phenomenon. My interest in global warming and energy policy is so great I launched www.energyplanusa.com and have spent months trying to find the 'smoking gun' that proves global warming is man-made. But the evidence is just not there.

Global Climate Change, the phenomenon formerly known as Global Warming, and previously referred to as late as the 1980's as "Global Cooling", or "The Impending Ice Age" is the term currently used by liberals to cause fear within the masses in order to justify such things as Cap and Trade, and "Carbon Credits". These imaginary tokens of environmental awareness only have value in therealm of revenue generation. One need only follow the money to see who ultimately benefitts from this political charade.

bwahahahahaahahahahaha. the simple fact of the matter is that Al Gore doesnt believe enough of his own BS to purchase green energy for his homes (which use over 250,000 Kw a year of electricity)

As a person with an actual Earth science (not biology) background I am very saddened that people have turned this issue away from science and into politics. Most Earth scientists will tell you that the jury is still out on climate change, that is as long as they are not getting funding from either side of the issue. Sadly the concentration on this issue deflects attention from other major environmental issues. The people who have little to no background continue to talk loudly, calling anyone else names.
