Gary B. Mayer
Gary B. Mayer, 58, of King George County went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 12, 2009, at his home, surrounded by his family. A native of New Jersey, Gary worked for several years with his father at Haywood Auto Body Shop. He had been employed by Mary Washington Hospital until his illness. Survivors include his loving wife, Marian Scott Mayer; two daughters, Tiffany Campbell Johnson of Fredericksburg and Kemisha Mayer Roper of Cameron, N.C.; one son, David Wayne Scott and his wife, Diane, of Tappahannock; and his stepmother, Mary Mayer of King George. He also leaves to cherish his memory two sisters, Ruth Mayer-Martin and her husband, Walter, of Linden, N.J., and LaVerne Mayer of King George; three brothers, Haywood Sr., and Edward Mayer, both of Rahway, N.J., and George Mayer of Jackonsville, Fla.; his godmother, Bernice Mason; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Frye and her husband, Willis, of King George and Bernice Lumpkin of Fredericksburg; one brother-in-law, William Scott and his wife, Sharon, of King George; and his devoted friends, Rachel Lewis, Gloria Jett, Tina Vaughan, Crystal Frye, Kim Hopkins and Cynthia Beverly Freeman. He was preceded in death by brother Timothy Mayer. A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m, Saturday, April 18, at Antioch Baptist Church, King George. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A viewing will take place from 2 to 6 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 17, at Lee Funeral Home, 12055 James Madison Parkway, King George.
