UMW students attend social justice conference Date published: 4/18/2009
UMW students promote social justice issues Six students from the University of Mary Washington attended the Global Prayer Gathering earlier this month. The event was held through the human rights agency International Justice Mission. The students are all members of UMW's InterVarsity Christian Fellowship's Justice Team. The six students who attended the conference were Blythe McLean, Christie Gill, Megan Roadley, Vivian Lenon, Lauren Redding and Sarah Smethurst. McLean and Smethurst stayed for a late-night meeting with politicians to advocate for the Child Protection Compact Act of 2009. This bill would provide money to stop international child trafficking. According to UNICEF, nearly 2 million children around the world are involved in the commercial sex trade. The Justice Team, formed on the idea that God hates injustice, also works on other social justice issues like a recent hunger-awareness banquet held at UMW. --Amy Flowers Umble
We've covered this ground before, Just like me you have the right to marry any woman that will accept you and you desire to marry. There see we have the same rights so there is no injustice involved.
God hates injustice, and that is why God is for gay marriage.
