Cpl. Ryan C. McGhee
Cpl. Ryan Casey McGhee, U.S. Army assigned to Delta Company, 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, 21, of Fredericksburg, was killed Wednesday May 13, 2009, while serving our country in Iraq. He is survived by his fiancee, Ashleigh Mitchell-McGhee of Fredericksburg, who was engaged to be married to Ryan in 2010; his father, Steven M. McGhee, and stepmother Kristie J. McGhee of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; his mother, Sherrie Battle-McGhee, of Knoxville, Tenn.; his three brothers, Sgt. Zachary McGhee and his wife, Crystal, of Stafford County, Noah and Gabriel McGhee and two sis-ters, Jasmine and Elsie McGhee; his paternal grandparents, Mike and Roberta McGhee of Newport News; and his maternal grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. William C. Battle of Knoxville. Also surviving is his loyal companion, Bruno. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday, June 1, at Found and Sons Funeral Home, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. That evening, a memorial service will take place at Massaponax High School from 5 to 8 p.m. Interment will be at 9 a.m., Tuesday, June 2, in Arlington National Cemetery, where Ryan will receive full military honors. In lieu of flowers, contributions and donations may be made to the Ryan Casey McGhee Memorial Scholarship Fund, Box 7352, Fredericksburg, Va. 22404-7352.
