Storm brings out neighborly spirit

A Saturday night storm brought out the community spirit in a neighborhood off Mountain View Road in Stafford County.

About five trees fell Saturday night on Pickos Place during a short but strong storm, said resident Belinda Collins. Two cars and two houses were hit.

As the neighbors awoke to the moderate damage yesterday morning, they began coming outside and working together to clean up the damage. The trees were cut up and hauled off to the dump. The whole neighborhood was cleaned by the end of the morning.

Collins said it was the first time in a while that all the neighbors had gotten together. Now they're making plans for another get-together.

"It brought everybody together," Collins said of the storm.
